Welcome to this unofficial River Ayr Way Challenge website. This page has been produced to make race information a bit more accessible. For general information concerning the River Ayr Way, visit http://www.riverayrway.org. There is now a new page on that site concerning the River Ayr Way Challenge. The River Ayr Way is a 41 mile long "source to sea" footpath that extends from Glenbuck to Ayr. The River Ayr Way Challenge is a fund-raising event open to runners and walkers (individuals or teams) in aid of Scottish Cancer Support. The event is also part of the Scottish Ultra Marathon Series (SUMS) and is the concluding race of the series. (Please visit http://sumschampionship.org for more details.) Changes this year! This year, the race is finishing at Dam Park stadium in Ayr rather than at the seafront, largely for traffic safety reasons and also because the stadium will be much better for spectators and supporters. There are changing rooms and showers for the competitors. After the race there will be a prize-giving ceremony, ceilidh band and buffet in the Station Hotel in Ayr at 8:00 pm (all free of charge thanks to the generosity of East Ayrshire Council).
